Shang Chi: The Legends of Ten Rings

The movie has so far received positive reviews from the fans and critics alike, with many praising it for the screenplay and the beautifully choreographed action sequences. What added to the hype were the post credits scenes of the movie, which took the viewers by surprise. Read on to find out more about them.

The movie ends in a restaurant with Shang-Chi and his best friend Katy describing their adventures to their San Francisco friends, the high-school friend Soo (Stephanie Hsu) and her husband John (Kunal Dudheker) ,who had asked them to live up to their potential earlier in the film. However, Soo believes that they are mocking her, and is not willing to trust them. But just then, a magical portal opens up behind Soo and John. It is then revealed that the reason for this is none other than the sorcerer Wong (Benedict Wong), who is looking for Shang-Chi. He then walks up to their table and says that Shang-Chi needs to come with him, while pointing towards Katy as well. The three of them then walk through the portal back into the New York Sanctum.

Shang Chi: The Legends of Ten Rings

The mid credits scene sees the story continuing on the other side of the portal, Wong is seen studying the Ten Rings, and says he has never seen an object like that before. However, he is joined by the holographic versions of Bruce Banner/ Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Carol Danvers/ Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), similar to those first seen in Avengers: Endgame. Interestingly, Bruce is back in human form, though he still has the sling from using the Infinity Gauntlet as Smart Hulk. The group discusses the ten rings, with the final moment showing us that the rings contain a beacon inside them, signalling Shang Chi to go to an unnamed place.

The post credits scene shows Shang-Chi's sister Xialing (Meng'er Zhang), whom Shang-Chi mentioned at the end is off to take down their father's operations. However, it turns out that Xialing is actually taking over the Ten Rings, with a bit of transformation. She has since recruited her fight club organiser and announcer Jon Jon (Ronny Chieng), although the mercenary Razor Fist (Florian Munteanu) is still the head of the army. The post credits scene ends with the message “The Ten Rings will return”.
