WHAT IF….? EPISODE 2 TRAILER BREAKDOWN

The trailer starts off with the infamous Sacred Timeline branching off into multiple alternate realities, and above the screen, we see another screen showing a text about how EGO, the living planet, dispatched the team of Ravagers to retrieve his son from Earth. This, is no doubt the main plot of the first Guardians Of The Galaxy movie, which sees Peter Quill being abducted by the Ravagers in order to send him to EGO. Peter belongs to Missouri in the movie, and likewise, the teaser to the 2nd episode also shows the same, that is, until the text displaying Missouri gets deleted and is replaced by Wakanda. As fans can guess, Wakanda is the country to which T’Challa belongs. And that sets up the episode.

As is evident from the scene, T’Challa gets kidnapped by Yondu Udonta and his group of Ravagers. It turns out, however, that they had actually brought in the wrong kid, thus the branching in the Sacred Timeline. They don’t abandon him though, and T’Challa goes on to become the Starlord of this reality. The teaser then shows us visuals of him fighting aliens and taking on enemies in a similar way to that in the movies. We also see many popular characters like the collector and Howard the Duck making an appearance in the teaser. What makes the episode truly special is that this marks the final appearance of Chadwick Boseman as Starlord/T’Challa. Boseman passed away after a long battle with cancer. What If…? Will be the last time Boseman plays T’Challa, and judging from the teaser, it looks like he has done a great job.
