Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie: All We know About

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are a fictional superhero group of anthropomorphic turtle brothers, trained in the ancient art of ninjutsu ninjas that appear in a franchise of the same name consisting of comic books, shows, films, and other tie-in products. The characters belonging to the franchise were created in 1984 by comic book writer-artist team Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman, and published the characters' adventures in comic books published by Mirage Studios. Within their stories, the turtles were trained in the Japanese martial art of ninjutsu by their adoptive father Splinter, an anthropomorphic rat.

Since its release, the franchise has seen multiple TV shows and movie adaptations, with the most recent films being reboots of the original franchise. And now, it looks like we are going to get another reboot of the classic story by Seth Rogen and Nickelodeon. Read on to know more about the movie.

Although the casting to the movie is yet to start, it is fairly certain that almost all the major characters from the franchise will be making an appearance. The titular group, consisting of Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo, along with their friend and companion April O’Neil will most probably be the ones with the major screen time. Descriptions about some of the major characters are as follows:

A tactical, level-headed, quiet, courageous leader and devoted student of his sensei, he wears a blue mask and wields two swords. Leonardo was named after the Italian, painter, engineer, inventor, writer, anatomist, and sculptor, Leonardo da Vinci.

Considered as the team's antihero, Raphael wears a red mask and wields a pair of sai. He has an aggressive nature, and seldom hesitates to throw the first punch. He was named after the Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance, Raphael.

A scientist, inventor, engineer, and technological genius, Donatello wears a purple mask and wields a bo staff. He is named after the early Renaissance Italian artist and sculptor from Florence, Donatello.

Michelangelo wears an orange mask and wields a pair of nunchaku. He is named after the Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet, and engineer, Michelangelo

The Turtles' sensei and adoptive father. In the original comics, Splinter is a Japanese mutant rat that learned the ways of ninjutsu from his owner and master, Hamato Yoshi.

The former lab assistant to the mad scientist Baxter Stockman, April is the human companion of the Turtles. She first met the Turtles when they saved her from Baxter's Mouser robots, and embarks on many of the Turtles' adventures and aids them by doing the work in public that the Turtles cannot.

The Shredder is the villainous ninjutsu master clad in armor called Oroku Saki, he is the leader of the Foot Clan, an evil ninja clan. He has appeared as the major villain in nearly all the film and series adaptations so far.

As mentioned before, the movie will be a CG-reboot of the tmnt franchise, thus making it the third time the series has been rebooted. It will deal with the origins of the turtles. The turtles get exposed to radioactive materials early on when they were still babies, thus transforming them into anthropomorphic individuals. They are then trained by their adoptive father Splinter, who is also an anthropomorphic rat in ninjutsu, an ancient Japanese martial art. From their home in the sewers of New York City, they battle petty criminals, evil overlords, mutated creatures, and alien invaders while attempting to remain hidden from society.

The most recent film adaptation has officially got a release date now. Nickelodeon will be rebooting the movie, with Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver producing, and Jeff Rowe ( of Gravity Falls and Connected fame) directing. Brendan O’Brien (Neighbors: Sorority Rising, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates) will be writing the screenplay, and Paramount will be handling global distribution on the film. The film will be released on August 11th, 2023, as revealed by Rogen on Twitter.
