Daredevil Characters to Return in MCU

Marvel's Daredevil series is based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. It was produced by Marvel Television and aired on Netflix. The series was created by Drew Goddard, with Steven S. DeKnight serving as showrunner for the first season which was released on April 10, 2015. Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez joined the series as showrunners for its second season which was released on March 18th, 2016. Erik Oleson served as showrunner on the third season which was released on October 19, 2018.

The series follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who was blinded in a tragic accident as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night. While the series does fall under the events and timeline set by the MCU, the character is yet to be seen in any of its films and series. With phase 4 of the MCU announced, it is rumoured that Murdock can make an appearance in not one, but two major projects.

Series synopsis

The first season deals with Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) becoming a crime fighting vigilante by night, while at the same time managing a legal practise by day. The season ends with new forces rising in Hell's Kitchen. It sees Daredevil take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame, Elektra Natchios. The second season sees the arrival of Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, being reborn as the Punisher. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.

In the third and final season, Matt Murdock reemerges after being missing for months, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. However, when his archenemy Wilson Fisk is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world or embracing his destiny as a hero. This would be the last time that we would see Charlie Cox don the costume, as the series would get cancelled in November 2018.

DAREDEVIL SET TO RETURN TO THE MCU

It has since been announced that we will see Charlie Cox appearing once again as Matt Murdock in two major phase four movies. It has been revealed by Marvel CEO Kevin Feige that Matt Murdock will indeed be making an appearance in Spider-Man No Way Home, which will also be his official debut in the MCU. but we do not know if we will see Murdock donning the Daredevil costume in this one. However, what we do know is that Cox will also be appearing as Murdock in the She-Hulk series. The Disney Plus She-Hulk series is also a lawyer show, with rumors circulating that Charlie Cox will also appear in the series, this was then confirmed by YouTuber Grace Randolph, who said that not only will Charlie Cox appear as Matt Murdock in She-Hulk, but he would also suit up as the Daredevil, possibly with a new costume. What’s more, there are also other rumours that say that Daredevil will be making an appearance in the Hawkeye series as well. All that remains is to wait and see.

OTHER CHARACTERS APPEARING

In addition to Murdock, it seems that there will be other characters joining him. There are rumours that Kevin Feige will also be looking to bring in Vincent D'Onofrio’s Kingpin, as well as Jon Bernthal's Punisher among other characters. Kingpin and Punisher most noticeably appeared in the Daredevil series, with Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) being introduced in the final season of the series and Punisher (Frank Castle) being involved for a majority of season 2.
