Best Marvel Quotes of All Time

It’s been close to fourteen years since the Marvel Cinematic Universe(MCU) kicked off, and it is safe to say that twenty four films and 4 TV series later, it is by far the most successful film franchise in history. The MCU officially kicked off in 2008 with the release of Iron-Man. This pretty much set up the entire universe, giving rise to franchises like those of Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man and many other popular superheroes. Over the course of the next few years, we would see these characters appearing in each other's franchises, thus solidifying the entire concept of a shared universe. What’s more, Marvel has announced multiple projects as part of Phase four of the MCU.

As phase four is underway, we have got many memorable moments from the movies and series alike, be it the final battle in New York in Avengers, or the Airport fight scene in Captain America: Civil War, or even the epic finale of a battle in Avengers: Endgame, the fans have been given plenty of memorable moments. The movies have also given us some amazing dialogues spoken by their characters. Let us have a look at some of the best and the most memorable quotes from the MCU.

  • "Don't waste it. Don't waste your life." (Ho Yinsen, Iron Man)
"Don't waste it. Don't waste your life." (Ho Yinsen, Iron Man)

Ho Yinsen utters these words as he dies, which then serve as a wake-up call for Tony Stark and inspire him to become a hero. Up until then, Tone was nothing but a self-centred egotistical young man, and having seen someone sacrifice himself for him; Tony took this sentiment to heart and spent the rest of his days being Iron Man and working to protect not only his world, but eventually the entire universe.

  •  “Whatever happens tomorrow, you must promise me one thing. That you will stay who you are, not a perfect soldier, but a good man.” (Dr. Abraham Erskine, Captain America: The First Avenger)
Whatever happens tomorrow, you must promise me one thing. That you will stay who you are, not a perfect soldier, but a good man.

In what was ultimately the reason why Steve Rogers was chosen for the super soldier experiment, the quote sums up Steve very well. The reason he was chosen wasn't because he was a physical specimen or that he held an impeccable record, but it was because he was, in essence, a good person.

  • “If we can’t accept limitations, then we’re no better than the bad guys.” (Tony Stark, Captain America: Civil War)
If we can’t accept limitations, then we’re no better than the bad guys

Spoken by Tony Stark during the discussion about signing the Sokovia Accords, the quote sums up the trials of being a person with superpowers. It demonstrates the choices faced by the heroes each time they fight, and also questions their moral compasses.

  • “I know you were only doing what you believe in, and that’s all any of us can do, it’s all any of us should. So no matter what, I promise if you — if you need us, if you need me, I’ll be there.”(Steve Rogers, Captain America: Civil War)
I know you were only doing what you believe in, and that’s all any of us can do, it’s all any of us should. So no matter what, I promise if you — if you need us, if you need me, I’ll be there

Also spoken during Civil War, Steve writes a letter to Tony about how even though they both wished to accomplish the same thing, their beliefs and morals drew them apart. This leads to the Avengers disbanding, but Steve still believes that they are a family. And when the time comes, they’ll have each others’ backs.

  • “Vengeance has consumed you. It’s consuming them. I’m done letting it consume me.” (T’Challa, Captain America: Civil War)
Vengeance has consumed you. It’s consuming them. I’m done letting it consume me.

T’Challa spends close to the entirety of Civil War going after Bucky Barnes in order to extract his revenge for he believed that Bucky was responsible for his father’s death. However, upon learning that Bucky himself was a victim of HYDRA, he realizes that anger and violence aren’t always the answer. And it is what he says to Zemo as well, who blamed the Avengers for the death of his family. After hearing Zemo’s motivation behind breaking up the Avengers, he chooses to show him a surprising level of mercy, having been in a similar position before.

  • “My armor was never a distraction or a hobby, it was a cocoon, and now I'm a changed man. You can take away my house, all my tricks and toys, but one thing you can't take away - I am Iron Man.” (Tony Stark, Iron Man 3)
My armor was never a distraction or a hobby, it was a cocoon, and now I'm a changed man. You can take away my house, all my tricks and toys, but one thing you can't take away - I am Iron Man.

Tony Stark thought that he was nothing without his suits. But the events of Iron Man 3 instilled a new sense of belief that he was much better than this. After all, he created those armours using nothing but his brilliance and determination. Thus, the suits did not make him Iron Man, rather he was already Iron Man.
