Suicide Squad 2 best reviewed DCEU movie on Rotten Tomatoes

Suicide Squad 2 has hit the theatres in the United Kingdom on July 30, 2021, and received positive reviews from critics. The audience praised Gunn's direction, the visual effects, and the cheeky humor. The movie is yet to be released in the United States on August 5, following which it will be streamed on HBO max for a month.

Suicide Squad 2

It is a standalone sequel to the suicide squad film released in 2016 and is the tenth one in the DC Extended Universe( DCEU). After being dismissed from Marvel Studios, Disney, and as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Gunn was immediately recruited by Warner Bros to work on the DCEU. After being recruited, Gunn first watched the Suicide squad(2016) film and finally chose to create and direct a new take on the Taskforce of the previous film while retaining a few original characters. The new film's premise is that the members of Taskforce X are sent to Corto Maltese( A South American island) to destroy Jotunheim, a Nazi-era prison, and laboratory that conducted experiments on political prisoners. During their mission, they encounter Starro, an alien starfish.

The main motive behind warner bros recruitment of James Gunn is to revitalize the suicide squad for the DC the same way he did it with guardians of the galaxy in MCU. Based on the response from the critics and the audience, Gunn's style of direction is well acclaimed similar to the Guardians of The Galaxy, and both the movies are considered unique in their way.

Rotten tomatoes, a popular rating website, has recently revealed their score for the film on Twitter as 100% after 46 reviews and is considered as the best-reviewed DCEU movie so far. As of writing this article, the score dropped to 97% with 76 reviews and is still regarded as the best rating ever as far as DCEU movies are considered, where the first film has only a rating of 26% on the Tomatometer. But this is just the beginning, and the best is yet to come. It may or may not retain its perfect score in the long term, but the hype created by the initial wave is worth appreciating, and this is what Warner Bros were looking for in the first place.
