Shang Chi: Trailer 2 Out - Break Down and Easter eggs

With Marvel recently dropping the 2nd teaser-trailer for its upcoming phase four project Shang Chi: the Legend of the Ten Rings, fans were eager to analyse the trailer and pick off any details or easter eggs that might have been hidden in it. Shang Chi: the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to release worldwide on September 3rd this year. The movie has been directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

The movie follows Shang Chi, son of the legendary literary villain Fu Manchu. Learning the truth about his dad’s business, he uses his martial arts prowess against his father. The Ten Rings is a crime league present across the world, but owing allegiance to no country in particular. If you noticed properly, the Ten Rings were actually introduced briefly in Iron Man, but were never really fleshed out properly. What makes the movie exciting is that the previous trailers have teased the appearance of some major Marvel characters, the likes of the Iron Fist, Abomination (from the Incredible Hulk movie) to name a few. Here we will break down the most recent trailer and see what details it contains.

The trailer starts with Shang-Chi's friend Katy, teasing a shirtless Shang-Chi, who appears to be preparing for some sort of fight. The clip used a combination of old and new footage, and involved the description of how Shang-Chi wished to have a normal life but couldn't. Moreover, the teaser shows, "You can't outrun your destiny." Tt then cuts to the action-filled life of Shang-Chi, who soon discovers about the Ten Rings and his father's evil plans. His father, Fu Manchu is the official introduction of the Mandarin to the MCU. The Mandarin had previously made an appearance in Iron Man 3, but this was actually a terrorist persona portrayed by British character actor Trevor Slattery as the idealized image of Aldrich Killian. Coming back to the trailer, we then see more glimpses of the San Francisco bus fight, where the mercenary Razor Fist goes after Shang-Chi. The fight ends with the bus splitting in two, Shang-Chi jumping into one half while pushing his combatant into the other. The trailer then cuts to a scene with Shang Chi and his father., which sees Shang-Chi telling his father that “he’s nothing like him,”. In a separate shot, we see Shang-Chi saying: "I thought I could say my name. Start a new life."

The new trailer also revealed that Abomination will be appearing in some capacity after he is seen fighting Wong (from Dr. Strange) at the end of the clip. In addition to this, it also teases the fight between Shang-Chi and his father, with the two of them seen using the power of the Ten Rings in the clip. As mentioned earlier, the trailer takes some time to establish Shang-Chi's relationship with Katy, showing him before one of his fights. We see scenes of history, teasing the Ten Rings being used by The Mandarin in the past. The trailer ends with Shang-Chi preparing to face off against his father. To sum it up, the new trailer contains plenty of action that has yet to be seen in other promos that have been released so far. More of Shang-Chi's fight with Razor Fist in the city streets can be seen, with Liu’s character ultimately kicking him off as the bus they are on splits in half. It also hypes up the fight between Shang-Chi and his father in what is likely the climax of the film.
